no turning back

Teacher Rose talked to me today regarding my resignation. She was emotional and she even cried. I was touched. I used to have this "bad feelings" towards her because of what she said about me before but when we talked today I know I have forgiven her whatever she might have thought bad about me.
I made up my mind. There's no turning back. I don't wanna think anymore if it's the right decision or not. I think it's just time to move on. To meet new friends and to meet new challenges.
Five of my of co-workers had their last day in ILDA today, Tin, Jenny, Jo, Abby, and Carol. Gina will be on her 3 months maternity leave.
So sad but it's part of what we call life. Anyway, there will always be memories to keep and to cherish. :-)
Till then...

just a thought

Sometimes I wonder why sunset is more colorful than sunrise. I guess it's an irony of life.
Sometimes, better things could really happen in saying goodbye.

i can keep my promise

So it rained heavily when I went out to shop for some stuff. I thought there was a storm or something.
It's the last Sunday of the month and I promised myself before that I will attend the Sunday mass for the whole month. And so I did. It's a test for my own self if I can keep my promise or not. In spite of the heavy rain, I did as what I have promised. I'm happy about it not just because I kept my promise but attending the mass is something that gives me this feeling of fulfillment.

i missed the concert :(

It's The Lifehouse's concert in Araneta but too bad I missed it. I can watch a movie all alone but a concert? Uh... haven't tried it yet.
Too bad my friend backed out. I was thinking of going there but then didn't do it. Now I missed it. It's raining cats and dogs tonight so maybe heaven is comforting me... yeah maybe next time.
I can still watch their concert next time. If not here maybe somewhere else. :-)
So I just watched several movies tonight, Little Miss Sunshine, The Good Year, which I have seen twice already, and Big Fish. Love those movies especially Big Fish. I even cried watching it... now you can call me a crybaby.

take the challenge

Smooth roads never make good drivers. Smooth seas never make good sailors. Clear skies never make good pilots. A problem-free life never makes a strong and good person. Be strong enough to accept the challenges of life.
Don't ask life: WHY ME? Instead, say: TRY ME.

decided

Called my mother today and finally told her of my decision of resigning from my job. I haven't told her the "real" reason yet but I'm so glad she's so supportive. I'm so happy and blessed that she's my mother.
Today is my niece's birthday too.

Had an "early call" tonight. I didn't notice the schedule so I called my student early. It was when I called my next student and she reminded me that it's still early for our class... and my! Hope they will not find out what I did... :D

"seekers"

Got back from the OSB 'farm' in St. Scholastica Pampanga today. It was a wonderful experience for me. Had a sort of retreat there. The place was wonderful. So peaceful and cozy.
My friend, Razel invited me there and I thought it was just like a retreat but it seemed to me like more of an invitation for 'sisterhood'. I guess one of the things that I realized there is that I don't have this 'calling'.
I was also guilty because of the little lies that I said which lead to another. I was sorry about it. Sometimes I just can't help but lie because it's just so difficult to explain things. But I'll try to avoid telling lies as much as possible...
We got in the place around 5 PM. There were also some "seekers" (that's the term that was written in their bulletin board... a sort of "Welcome Dear Seekers") there and most are high school students.
We attended the anticipated mass at around 6 and the church was like 15-minute away on foot. Had dinner then prayer and some teaching from the nuns there.
We then had our night swimming at 10 PM and slept around midnight.. It was pretty cool even if I can't swim at all.
We then woke up a bit early (past 7) and had this prayer and breakfast. After breakfast we had some bible study and teaching then "sharing".
Went home earlier than the rest because of the lie that I told my sister and so I thought I need to go home early.
It was my first time to go to Pampanga and was pretty excited to go home all by myself. I like trying new adventures. One thing I like staying in Manila is because it makes me a braver to explore the places that I've never been to.
I was really tired when I got back home especially because I never had enough sleep for two nights. Slept around 4:30 AM the other day then didn't have enough sleep too today so I was like really really tired and sleepy so got a short nap after I got back home then went out to buy some groceries.

keeping my hopes up

Chatted with my sister-in-law tonight and glad about it. All this time I felt so lost and confused. Unsure about life and the future.
Wanted to know more and venture but scared at times. She then gave me hope. Now there's something I can look forward to this December not just the usual thing of going home and spending the New Year there.
I wanna do something else and try my luck.
I just need to be positive. Think positive. Be optimistic. Life is full of pleasant surprises. Life is a gift!
Gosh! I'm really happy tonight. Full of hope and optimistic. I'm so happy.
Think Positive! Be positive.I can do it!!!

IS THIS WHY GAS IS GOING TO $5.00 & MORE A GALLON?

from my inbox
Got this from a friend. Haven't checked if some of the information are true but I think it's scary to think of the consequences of too much industrialization. I guess it's way too much.

Dubai in 1990

The same street in 2003

Last year

The madness. Dubai is said to currently have 15-25% of all the world's cranes.

The Dubai Waterfront. When completed it will become the largest waterfront development in the world.

All of this was built in the last 5 years, including that island that looks like a palm tree.

The Palm Islands in Dubai . New Dutch dredging technology was used to create these massive man made islands.
They are the largest artificial islands in the world and can be seen from space.
Three of these Palms will be made with the last one being the largest of them all.

Upon completion, the resort will have 2,000 villas, 40 luxury hotels, shopping centers, movie theaters, and many other facilities. It is expected to support a population of approximately 500,000 people. It is advertised as being visible from the moon.

The World Islands .300 artificially created islands in the shape of the world.
Each island will have an estimated cost of $25-30 million.

The Burj al-Arab hotel in Dubai. The worlds tallest hotel.
Considered the only '7 star' hotel and the most luxurious hotel in the world.
It stands on an artificial island in the sea.

Hydropolis, the world's first underwater hotel.
Entirely built in Germany and then assembled in Dubai, it is scheduled to be completed by 2009 after many delays.

The Burj Dubai. Construction began in 2005 and is expected to be complete by 2008. At an estimated height of over 800 meters, it will easily be world's tallest building when finished.
It will be almost 40 percent taller than the current tallest building, the Yaipei 101.

This is what downtown Dubai will look like around 2008-2009.
More than 140 stories of the Burj Dubai have already been completed.
It is already the worlds tallest man made structure and it is still not scheduled to be completed for at least another year.

The Al Burj. This will be the centerpiece of the Dubai Waterfront. Once completed it will take over the title of the tallest structure in the world from the Burj Dubai.

Recently it was announced that the final height of this tower will be 1200 meters.
That would make it more than 30 percent taller than the Burj Dubai and three times as tall as the Empire State Building.

The Burj al Alam, or The World Tower Upon completion it will rank as the world's highest hotel. It is expected to be finished by 2009. At 480 meters it will only be 28 meters shorter than the Taipei 101.

The Trump International Hotel & Tower, which will be the centerpiece of one of the palm islands, The Palm Jumeirah.

Dubailand. Currently, the largest amusement park collection in the world is Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando , which is also the largest single-site employer in the United states with 58,000 employees.

Dubailand will be twice the size.

Dubailand will be built on 3 billion square feet (107 miles^2) at an estimated $20 billion price tag. The site will include a purported 45 mega projects and 200 hundred other smaller projects.

Dubai Sports City . A huge collection of sports arenas located in Dubailand.

Currently, the Walt Disney World Resort is t he #1 tourist destination in the world. Once fully completed, Dubailand will easily take over that title since it is expected to attract 200,000 visitors daily.

The Dubai Marina is an entirely man made development that will contain over 200 high rise buildings when finished. It will be home to some of the tallest residential structures in the world.
The completed first phase of the project is shown.
Most of the other high rise buildings will be finished by 2009-2010.
Want to see it from a satellite view? Go to www.googleearth.com and fly to Dubai . See for yourself.

Dubai Mall will be the l largest shopping mall in the world with over 9 million square feet of shopping and around 1000 stores. It will be completed in 2008.

Ski Dubai , which is already open, is the largest indoor skiing facility in the world.
This is a rendered image of another future indoor skiing facility that is being planned.

Some of the tallest buildings in the world, such as Ocean Heights and The Princess Tower , which will be the largest residential building in the world at over a 100 stories, will line the Dubai Marina

The UAE Spaceport would be the first spa ceport in the world if construction ever gets under way.

And ... The Dubai Metro system, once completed, will become the largest fully automated rail system in the world. The Dubai World Central International Airport will become the largest airport in size when it is completed. It will also eventually become the busiest airport in the world, based on passenger volume. There are more construction workers in Dubai than there are actual citizens.

KINDA GIVES ONE AN INCENTIVE TO CONSERVE DOESN'T IT????
Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it.
It might even be good for us! The Saudis are boycotting American
goods. We should return the favor.

An interesting thought is to boycott their GAS.

Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money
into the coffers of Saudi Arabia . Just buy from gas companies that
don't import their oil from the Saudis.

Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I
fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to
kill me, my family, and my friends.

I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil
companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies
import Middle Eastern oil.

These companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell...................... ....... 205,742,000 barrels

Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels

Exxon/Mobil...... ......... 130,082,000 barrels

Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels

Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels

Citgo gas is from South America , from a Dictator who hates
Americans. If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to
over $18 BILLION! (oil is now $90 - $100 a barrel).

Here are so me large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco..................0 barrels

Conoco..................0 barrels

Sinclair...................0 barrels

BP/Phillips.............0 barrels

Hess..................... ..0 barrels

ARC0.....................0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy
and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much

they are importing.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas
buyers. It's really simple to do.

Now, don't wimp out at this point . . . keep reading and I'll explain
how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I'm sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send
it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)...and those 300 send it to
at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the
message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached
over THREE M ILLION consumers !!!!!!! If those three million get
excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million
people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it . . . THREE HUNDRED
MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. How long would
all that take?

duty free

Went to Duty Free today after lunch in Mang Inasal(MOA). My second time to go there. I guess Filipinos who arrived home from abroad never failed to visit Duty Free. It's more like a tradition or at least that's what I think of
You have to pay in dollars and I don't think there's really a big difference when you shop in other malls. I guess you can only get in when you have arrived from abroad not more than a couple of days.

a day of confusion

It's been a confusing day for me. I'm really so confused and I just don't know what to do. I sometimes hate myself for being like this. I felt like I'm going nowhere. It's always a problem when it comes to decision-making because I'm tickle minded.
Time is running short. I need to make up my mind whether to resign from my job or not. Darn! I hate myself for being so unsure about my decision.
For a moment I feel so sure and then feel so unsure again.
Ah...what am I supposed to do. I feel like I need every advice that I can get. :-(

I made a promise to myself to attend all Sunday masses for this month. My friend, Ruby and I met in Glorietta today. We shopped and chatted about our life.
We then attended the 4:30 PM mass in Greenbelt.
It always feels good spending some time with an old friend. She's my friend in college and whenever I text her that we'll meet, she always comes even if my place is really far. What a good friend she is. :-)

got a new haircut

Finally after months of wanting to get a new haircut, I finally had it today. It wasn't great but oh well it wasn't that bad either.
Just thought it was different.
Chatted with my brother (Jun) a while ago and told him of my plan of looking for a new job but well I didn't get much reaction from him. Oh well, that's okay... guess it's better that he didn't react much.

a very long walk

We don't have work today so Gina and I thought of accomplishing in getting all our id's. We went to SSS Cubao but was disappointed because they didn't have an ID capture there. We then headed to SSS Makati but it was still a disappointment. We then walked to Atrium to get our TIN ID but too bad mine was assigned in Taguig while Gina's was in Pasay so we just went there instead. After getting Gina's TIN ID we then went to Makati Med then to Landmark.
It was such a long walk day.I can't imagine we walked from SSS Makati to MRT Ayala station but of course with some few stops along the way. ***phew****

new month

I can't believe how time flies so fast. I really think that this is the fastest year ever. Really, I feel that days are passing so fast and it's like the earth is rotating fast that you wake up and realize you're a year older again! Huh!
My gosh it's July already. It was just like a week ago when 2008 started and now September is around the corner and in a surprising time you'll realize it's December again. The thought of it somehow scares me.
We'll be working for 2-6PM today since we have this what we call "excess day" in the office.
Wednesday and Thursday are also our vacation (still excess days for this month). We have this so called "necktie day" in the office today. Ah, whatever...
